Does anybody else find it odd that Amazon's notification emails start with "dear". For example, I just received one "Dear maiki_desu... We're writing to confirm your purchase..." Maybe it has come to be synonymous with "to: ", but it still looks like the "dear" as in "dear to my heart" or "my dear josephine".
Well, aren't you just a charming little cutie, Amazon automated response system.

I wasn't ready for this week. This is "dead week", so i knew there was going to be some things due, but I didn't consider (nor did I properly plan for) this week being the equivalent of finals week for me. I only have one final next week, but I had 3 large projects due. These projects are basically my finals for these classes. On the plus side, next week should be easy.

So perhaps you know, but gmail will do a search through your mail in order to determine which ads are relevant for you (like if you write or receive an email about food, it might offer links to recipe sites. if its a heated, emotional email to an ex-girlfriend, it's like "relationship issues? click here for counseling in your area.") i'm not worried about privacy. it's not like humans are reading my mail, and I don't care what a machine thinks of me.... or do i?

I don't get a newspaper anymore, so I can't read the comics... but I found these online, and they are hilarious! Doonesbury was the "boring" comic when I was a kid (it lost out to 'Garfield' and 'Calvin and Hobbes'), but now it is wonderful

the last one is priceless ^^ hahahahaaaa

So this aerobic kickboxing (and body-sculpting) class is great. Quite a hard workout. And I'm starting to see some results! My arms, legs, and chest are getting stronger (and maybe a little bigger :P ), and my stomach is on its way to a 6-pack ^^
It feels good to be getting in shape!
Btw, here's a picture from Sonny's going away party. All but one person is named in a note (you have to click on the picture and go to the flick-page) I can't remember that one guy who is one of Sonny's friends....

Last night I outcooked my roommate (who is a girl, and a good cook) with enchiladas (they were sooo good), and had Corona with lime with dinner. It was perfect :D A few friends joined me for dinner as well, so we had a good time.
I've been taking Salsa dance classes, so I had to go try out my new skills at the club. Two other friends of mine didn't make it for enchiladas, but they still wanted to go dancing. So I met them at the club and a few other friends as well (who I didn't know were going to go). As I expected, Salsa dancing in class is much more formal and doesn't work on the casual dance floor, so I had to improvise. I was semi-drunk for the first time in like months :P (after the two beers, it was a white russian, half of another beer, and a long-island iced tea.. I thought i learned my lesson about mixing?) and my voice is dead right now from the shouting, but I danced quite a bit and played some pool, and it was great fun.
Next time for salsa dancing, CINCO DE MAYO! ain't gonna miss that

My roommates (one just moved in), who are dating, btw, are not particularly noisy people. Sometimes they get rowdy, but who doesn't? The only time that they are really noisy is when their electronic devices start going off. So much so that it's starting to invade my dreams. ( read more )

driving down the road, minding my own business, and i come up to this truck who's driving somewhat slow. No matter, I will be turning soon anyway. Hum de dum... eh? what's that? I get a little closer to him. There's something swaying back and forth very naturally in the wind, hanging from the bottom of his truck. A thought of what it could be entered my head, but nono, couldn't be... huh? ... oh snap, it IS!

It's been two months since I've last been in Portland. I went up there today with a girl who also didn't have any plans for the day, and I also met another friend from school for lunch. We went to get pho! I haven't had pho in so long, and it was good :) The only problem was that the only way I knew how to get to the restaurant was from my ex-girlfriend's place, because she and I would always go from there. So I had to drive to her apartment, then from there take the road that I knew. After we got to the restaurant, my friend was like "well if I knew we would be going through the Hollywood district we coulda just taken I-84 and got off here." Fine. Well, at least I know for next time.
But anyway, I wanted to go take some pictures in Portland since the Sakura are blooming, but it was kinda a rainy day, so I didn't get to take any pictures. Instead we went to Uwajimaya and got some food, and then to Woodburn to do some shopping.
Anyway, getting lost in Portland, eating Pho, and (a little bit of) shopping. Next up: snowboarding with the family. Sounds like a good spring break to me! ^^

Coming back from Japan, I found all my friends had moved on and were in different parts of life. I basically had to regroup and form new friendships. However, all the friends I have surrounded myself with are now themselves moving on, and I am left here with very little. I don't feel depressed, as I know this is inevitable and just a part of life. But when someone leaves the little social circle in your life, and when your relationship with them is to come to and end, is it any different than if they had died? I don't think so. Death is hard to deal with. Especially when it is almost every friend you have seen in the last month.

This term was perhaps my worst term yet. I didn't have many credits, but all my classes were pretty tough, and on top of that I had JNight to take care of. I thought there was no way I would pass all my classes. I actually just wished to pass one of them.
Just got my grades back, and I passed ALL of them! WOO!! No more delaying graduation! :D

I looked through all my data backup cd's, all my picture cd's, and through all the folders on my ipod.... i couldn't find the pictures that I took while in Japan! All I had were some copies of pictures my friends took, and about 15 or so that I put on my OSU server space. Is that all I have left?
well, it's 4am and I couldn't sleep, so I decided to clean my closet.
lo and behold there it is, a paper envelope containing two CD's: Japan part 1 and part 2.
phew.

so last night i had a couple strange dreams. well really just the first one was strange, but for some reason they both involved swimming, or at least being in water.
In the first one, i was in this shallow water, and there was a body floating in the water. I pushed it out of the water, and began pushing on its chest to get the water out of the lungs. however, it was to no avail, as it was already dead. i left, and was later together with some people who were apparently my family (they bear no resemblance to my real family, however). It was my dad, and two sisters. We had just discovered that our mom had drowned. So that body must've been my mom.

I spent like all last night working on a program, then today when i opened it up in vim, it said there was swap file. I figured that i probably fell asleep while working on it, so i decided to recover it. turns out that it was a really old swap file. no problem, just quit and reopen without recovering, yeah?
well.... out of muscle memory, i SAVED it before i quit.
if that doesn't mean anything to you, then nevermind.
but guh......... several hours of work gone in a few keystrokes
